Mike The Situation Sorrentino Will Soon Be A Free Man After Eight Months In Prison

After spending eight months in federal prison for tax evasion, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is going home. Both the reality star’s publicist and the Bureau of Prisons have confirmed that his release date is Thursday, September 12th.

As fans watched Sorrentino marry his longtime sweetheart Lauren Pesce during the current season of Jersey Shore, the 38-year-old has been behind bars. A federal judge sentenced Sorrentino last October after he pleaded guilty, but he did give the “GTL” poster boy a few weeks to get his affairs in order before ordering him to report to Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in January.

It was during that time between his sentencing and turning himself in that Sorrentino married Pesce and filmed the wedding for Jersey Shore. His prison storyline has also been a part of the current season, as both Jenni “JWoww” Farley and Vinny Guadagnino were in the courtroom for his sentencing. He also live-streamed his trip from his home in New Jersey to the New York prison.

Some of his co-stars have also visited him in prison (MTV cameras were not allowed inside), and he stays in touch with Pesce via phone calls. After Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio visited Sorrentino, he said that his co-star was working out every day for two hours, he “eats what he wants,” and he gets his haircut twice a week.

Due to privacy, safety, and security reasons, the Bureau of Prisons does not give any specific details about the timing or manner of inmate releases.

Mike’s brother, Marc Sorrentino received a two-year sentence for aiding in the presentation of a false tax return, and he is scheduled to be released on September 28, 2020.

According to NJ.com, Mike and Marc earned about $8.9 million from club and TV appearances and endorsement deals between 2010 and 2012, thanks to Mike’s Jersey Shore fame. However, the brothers did not properly report that income and failed to pay taxes.

Just before he left for Otisville, Mike told fans where he would be and he asked them to write him. After just a few days behind bars, Pesce said her husband had received thousands of letters.

She also gave fans on Twitter an update just last week, writing, “Let’s just say @ItsTheSituation is no longer under construction & you’re all in for a treat when he’s home!”
