Lady Gaga & Prince William FaceTime To Discuss Mental Health

Prince William and Lady Gaga have teamed up to encourage more people to talk about mental health.

In a four-minute film, The Duke of Cambridge and Gaga speak over FaceTime as part of William’s ‘Heads Together’ campaign.

The clip shared on Twitter, sees William FaceTiming (from Kensington Palace), Lady Gaga at home in California.

“I am so grateful to speak to you.” Gaga tells the future King of England.

“I’m a very big fan of what you’ve done with Heads Together… it reminded me how much my mental health changing changed my life.”

To which William replies “Harry, Catherine and I felt this was an important area.”

“Throughout all our charity work from veterans to homelessness, addiction, most of it seemed to stem back to mental health issues.”

Lady Gaga continues “there is a lot of shame attached to mental illness – you feel like there is something wrong with you.”

“In my life I go, ‘Oh my goodness, look at all these beautiful wonderful things that I have, I should be so happy,’ but you can’t help it if you wake up in the morning and you are so tired and you are so sad and you are so full of anxiety that you can barely think.”

In an open letter posted on her blog, Lady Gaga recently revealed she had suffered with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Prince William told the ‘Born This Way’ singer he was moved by the letter.

“I read your open letter the other day and I thought it was incredibly moving and very brave of you to write down such personal feelings.”

Reiterating the importance of speaking out William said “It’s time that everyone speaks up and really feels very normal about mental health; it’s the same as physical health.”

“Everybody has mental health and we shouldn’t be ashamed of it and just having a conversation with a friend or family member can really make such a difference.”

“You won’t be judged.”

This weekend Prince William’s younger brother brother, Prince Harry, spoke about his own mental health issues, revealing that he sought counselling to help him deal with the death of his mother, Prince Diana.
