Blake Shelton Brings Military Family On Stage at San Diego Concert

Blake Shelton is one of the most popular country singers of this decade, and he’s got some serious good vibes to give to others. As he’s wrapping up his tour, he’s doing something nice for some troops that fight for our freedom every day. During his recent San Diego performance, the country singer was able to serenade the Kiendrebeogo family. They are active members of the US Navy in San Diego. Originally from West Africa, the family obtained their US Citizenship, and they love Blake Shelton.

While onstage, Shelton and JC Penney presented the family with a $10,000 gift card for the USO to support families in need. He then sang his hit song, “Home,” for the family. He was taken aback by the presence of this awesome family on his stage and said he couldn’t keep his eyes of them.

“I couldn’t take my eyes off of the family when they were on stage with us. I have the on-stage vantage point every night, so having them come up and experience the crowd singing to them was so cool. They were overwhelmed by the experience and honestly, we all were,” he said of the experience.

Shelton wasn’t the only one with kind words following the performace. The Kiendrebeogo family also had something to say about their own experience on stage at a Blake Shelton concert.

“It’s a big deal,” said Roland Kiendregeogo. “We’re so excited. He’s a character and I like a man of character. The show made me feel like I was in Oklahoma again,” said Marie Esther of her experience and of Oklahoma, which was the family’s first home when they moved to the United States.

Shelton continues by talking about his affiliation and work with the USO, “It’s awesome. They are such good people and they treat the soldiers like royalty.”
